MMI to Unveil Original Artwork by Canadian Artist, Amy Dryer at Calgary Event
Medical Ministry International presents “Changing Lives”, an event to present the life-changing and capacity building programs of MMI. The event will be highlighted by Calgary Artist, Amy Dryer, who has produced an original painting, “Together”, that was inspired by the volunteers and staff of MMI at the Bud Moore Studios in Calgary on April 25, 2013.
Medical Ministry International will host an event featuring the unveiling of a painting by Calgary Artist, Amy Dryer. The painting, “Together”, features the work of Medical Ministry International. Dryer, a well known artist throughout North America, based in Calgary, developed the piece after becoming aware of the work of the organization last year.
“I am impressed by the commitment of the doctors and staff of Medical Ministry International who dedicate their time and care to people in need. They travel throughout the world, reaching out to people who can’t afford medical treatment. MMI’s approach is one of compassion, and as I created ‘Together’ I kept this idea in my mind. It has been my goal to mirror this compassion in my painting,” states Dryer. “I am influenced by the expressionist painters, their gestural, emotive approach to the canvas. ‘Together’ captures that ‘gesture of care’ that is the story of Medical Ministry International: a truly life-changing organization.”

Recently a featured artist in “Essential Calgary,” attended the Alberta College of Art and Design, the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland and the Fine Art program at Mount Allison University in New Brunswick to receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts.
Dryer has painted full time since 2002 and was chosen as the 2009 recipient of Heritage Property Corporation Purchase Award.
She completed an artist residency at Emma Lake, Saskatchewan in 2009. She exhibits with Trinity Galleries, Saint John, NB; Canvas Gallery, Toronto, ON; Elevation Gallery, Canmore, AB; and AXIS Contemporary Art, Calgary AB.
