Overview
Ghana is located in Western Africa, bordering the Gulf of Guinea, between Cote d’Ivoire and Togo. Accra is the capital city of Ghana with a population of about 2,000,000 people. English is the official language of Ghana and is universally used in schools in addition to nine other local languages. The most widely spoken local languages are Ga, Dagomba, Akan and Ewe. Traditional religions accounts for two-fifths of the population. The Christian population also accounts for two-fifths of the total population and includes Roman Catholics, Baptist, Protestants, etc. The Muslim population (12 percent of the total) is located chiefly in the northern part of the country.
Climate:
The climate in Ghana is tropical. The eastern coastal belt is warm and comparatively dry; the southwest corner, hot and humid; and the north, hot and dry.

Immunizations:
Yellow Fever Vaccination is required. Please check with a travel medicine physician/clinic, local health department, or Center for Disease Control (CDC) for recommendations.

Surgeries
We expect to do primarily OB/GYN surgeries at the Barnor Hospital. The patients will be pre-screened by our local partners. Medical personnel serving on this team will need to obtain a temporary license to serve in Ghana. More information will be sent to you once accepted on this project.
